Coping with Neurological Disorder and Related Writing*

Trauma affects the nervous system and, for many of us who survived, can lead to one or more neurological disorders.

I didn't receive my first official neurological disorder diagnosis until I was 35, after decades of suffering and trying to get help. Since then, I have been diagnosed with six neurological disorders: post-traumatic stress disorder, sensory processing disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder.

I've found that by regulating my nervous system, following a sensory diet and practicing mindfulness, ​​I am able to process my thoughts and emotions more clearly and to feel safe in my body.
